The Role

:



The Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive HSE and Governance frameworks within Ctrack. This role must ensure compliance with all relevant South African legislation, promote a strong safety culture, minimize environmental impact, and support sound governance practices across the organization.


Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety




Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant regulations. Ensure all required legal appointments relevant to this Company are done and renewed as necessitated by expiry dates and terminations of service. Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identification, and implement effective control measures to mitigate risks across all operational areas. Plan, conduct, and document regular OSH inspections, audits, and workplace assessments. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventative actions. Develop and deliver engaging HSE training programs and awareness campaigns for employees Monitor and report on HSE performance, including key performance indicators, incident statistics, and compliance status. Maintain accurate HSE records, documentation, and reporting systems. Organize for the election and appointment of H & S committee members Liaise with relevant regulatory authorities (e.g., Department of Labour) on OHS matters. Ensure emergency preparedness and response plans are in place and regularly tested. Schedule and attend all OHS meetings, draft agendas, distribute minutes and maintain filed copies of minutes Present induction and in-house OHS training as required Ensure all fire protection systems, alarms, and emergency exits are functional and regularly inspected. Ensure compliance with OHSAS 18001:2007 and industry standards.

Environmental




Promote environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives within the organization. Report on environmental performance and compliance as and when required. Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure timely submission of environmental reports as and when required.

Governance




Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of corporate governance frameworks, policies, and procedures. Support the organization in ensuring compliance with relevant governance regulations, legislation, and best practices. Participate in internal audits related to governance, compliance, health & safety. Assist in the development and delivery of ethics and compliance training programs. Maintain relevant governance documentation and records. Assist in the management of stakeholder relationships related to HSE and Governance. Maintain statistics for annual board meetings on IOD's, types of incidents registered, medically boarded employees, people with disability, Analyse OHS statistics and compile a quarterly report including suggested preventative measures and re-evaluation of risk assessments.


General





Stay abreast of changes in relevant HSE and Governance legislation, regulations, and industry best practices Collaborate effectively with all departments to integrate HSE and Governance principles into daily operations. Prepare and present reports on HSE and Governance performance to management. Perform any other duties as reasonably required by management.

Qualifications & Experience:





Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field. OHSAS 18001 training 3 - 5 years of OHS experience in a similar environment Knowledge of ISO 45001 (OHS) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) is preferred. Strong understanding of South African SHE legislation and compliance requirements. Experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis.

Skills




Proficiency in MS Office Suite:

Competent in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software for documentation, analysis, and presentations. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy. Proactive with the ability to work independently. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Analytical thinking with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues. Commitment to promoting a culture of safety and sustainability.
