Job Description

Development ManagerHead Office in GautengExpiry Date: 2024-10-31Purpose of the role:
1. Team Management:
o Lead and mentor a team of Java developers.
o Oversee daily operations and ensure project milestones are met.
o Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs.
2. Project Coordination:
o Plan, execute, and deliver software projects on time and within budget.
o Ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
o Manage the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
3. Network Management:
o Supervise network infrastructure to ensure stability and security.
o Collaborate with network engineers to optimise performance and resolve issues.
4. Vendor Management:
o Coordinate with third-party vendors for system integrations, upgrades, and maintenance.
o Negotiate contracts and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
5. IT Technicians and Support:
o Oversee IT support staff to ensure prompt resolution of technical issues.
o Implement and maintain IT policies and procedures.
o Manage hardware and software procurement and inventory.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
o Foster a collaborative environment among teams and departments.
o Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders.
o Liaise with senior management to align IT strategies with business goals.
7. Technical Expertise:
o Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
o Provide technical guidance and support to the development and IT teams.
o Ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements.
8. Problem-Solving:
o Identify and address potential risks and issues in projects and infrastructure.
o Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
9. Budget Management:
o Prepare and manage the departmental budget.
o Monitor expenses and optimise resource allocationQualifications:
MatricExperience:
Proven experience in Java development and team leadership.Knowledge and Skills:
Strong knowledge of network infrastructure and IT operations.Excellent project management and vendor management skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Additional Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
