Looking for an Ab Initio combination profile (Data Engineer/Technical Consultant/Developer).



A candidate with Data Engineering an Ab Initio Technical Consulting skills with strong ETL experience, a programming background, and expertise in Linux environments.



The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines to support business intelligence and analytics needs. The role requires to collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to ensure efficient data integration and transformation processes.

As an Ab Initio Technical Consultant:

able to participate in both pre-sales and post-sales activities.



Such consultants would have some previous experience and competence in scoping, estimating, requirements capture, project management and presenting. They would also have a polished and professional approach to communications with customers and prospects.



All consultants must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and it is expected that consultants would need to be It is expected that our Ab Initio technical consultants will develop a broad and deep knowledge of Ab Initio software and its applicability across the data processing spectrum.



Past experience in the data arena, perhaps with databases, major development languages or environments, or with other major vendors in this space is an advantage. Demonstrable successful experience operating in a sales or pre-sales environment and having a high level of commercial awareness is essential.



The technical consultant are expected to assist customers with the implementation of new and existing programmes. The work is varied but usually involves some form of knowledge transfer/mentoring to help a customer build the first few applications and customize existing applications.



All consultants work with customers onsite to install software, to build example solutions, to train customer staff (and their outside consultants if any), and to help customers build the first few applications.

Qualifications and experience required:

Must have:

Bachelor or Master's Degree in Computer Science, IT or Engineering.

Must have:

Ab Initio Certificate.

5 years minimum work experience required in data engineering and ETL development.

5 years minimum work experience required with Ab Initio, including development and maintaining data pipelines.

Work experience in the financial/banking sector will be advantageous.

Technical skills & experience required:

Any of 'C', 'C++, Java Cobol and other procedural OO Languages.



UNIX knowledge, in particular scripting. All consultants will use UNIX.



Familiarity with scripting languages like Python or R



Proficiency in SQL.

Knowledge of a major database:

Oracle, DB2, Teradata, Sybase, Informix, Hyperion .



Knowledge of Business Meta Data.



Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure.



Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Hive.



Knowledge of scheduling.



Knowledge of data quality and data cleansing (e.g. tools such as SAS Dataflux, Trillium et al).



Knowledge or awareness of real-time applications or web services and knowledge of data warehousing.



Knowledge of data governance and security practices.
