Job Description

Jay Jay Group is a holding company consisting of 6 companies, including Jay Jay Butchery. The family-owned business is dynamic and diverse, with operations in various industries such as in the meat industry, fuel, liquor and frozen food. The companyxe2x80x99s operations and stores are based in Johannesburg, but requires an Accountant at the Head Office in Paarl in the Western Cape. The successful job incumbent will be required to engage in inter-company work across the Jay Jay Group and will report to the Director.Duties:

• Processing journals and bank statements
• Reviewing payment schedules and creditorsxe2x80x99 reconciliations
• Allocating payments and posting to the General Ledger
• Reconciling balance sheet accounts
• Distributing statements
• Inter-company invoicing
• Managing petty cash (consumables)
• Preparing statutory submissions (VAT reports and EMP) and assisting with payroll
• Preparing accounts until trial balance
• Providing assistance in preparation for annual financial audit
• Engaging with and assisting auditors with annual audit (review of financial statements)
• Assisting departments / other companies with budget control
• Expense and cost centre allocation
• Providing support i.t.o. preparation of monthly Management Accounts where needed
• General administration and reporting
• Other tasks as requested by the Director

Requirements:

• BCom or BCompt in Accounting (SAIPA accredited)
• 3-5 years of experience working in a similar / accountant role
• Computer literate: MS Office (intermediate to advanced Excel skills), experience with ERP systems (Sage Evolution)
• Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
• Excellent numerical, problem-solving and analytical skills
• Detail-oriented, diligent, and precise
