Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, South African tax laws, and financial reporting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Operations & Bookkeeping:

Oversee full-cycle accounting processes including daily transaction recording, general ledger management, and monthly closing activities. Manage bank reconciliations and petty cash operations while ensuring accurate financial record-keeping.

Intercompany & Transactional Management:

Prepare and process intercompany invoicing and recharges, ensuring timely and accurate settlements within the group. Coordinate with internal teams to optimize financial flows across business units.

Payroll & Tax Administration:

Oversee

end-to-end payroll processing

for the Cape Town division, ensuring timely and accurate salary payments. This may also extend to other divisions as required. Manage

statutory deductions

(PAYE, UIF, SDL, Medical Aid, pension/provident fund) and ensure compliance with tax regulations. Handle

tax submissions

(EMP201, EMP501, IRP5) and liaise with SARS, auditors, and tax advisors. Maintain

payroll records

, address employee queries, and ensure data confidentiality. Stay updated on

legislative changes

, adapting payroll processes for compliance.

Cashflow Forecasting & Treasury Management:

Develop and maintain cashflow forecasting models to support liquidity planning and ensure the subsidiary meets its financial obligations. Oversee treasury functions, including banking relationships, cash optimization, and the management of credit facilities. Monitor working capital and implement strategies to enhance financial efficiency and mitigate risk.

Reporting & Compliance:

Produce timely financial reports, variance analysis, and performance metrics to inform management decisions. Ensure adherence to local statutory requirements, tax regulations, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Collaborate with external auditors and tax professionals during audits and regulatory reviews.

Strategic Financial Support & Process Innovation:

Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning to support the growth of both existing and emerging revenue streams. Identify and implement process improvements, enhancing financial systems, internal controls, and reporting accuracy. Stay current with industry best practices and technological advancements in accounting and financial management.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA, or ACCA) preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles. Strong knowledge of IFRS, SARS regulations, and South African tax laws. Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks. Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
