About this jobAs an Accountant you will be responsible for managing and capturing all accounts within the business, across various territories. You will also manage the relevant tax liabilities and tax processes in each territory. You will report to the Senior Accountant.You will

  • Full ownership of the Trial Balance of various service entities and the holding company including the management of all balance sheet accounts monthly, including tax assets / liabilities, loans, accruals & prepayments.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording and reconciliation of financial accounts, including the salary, tax accounts and the maintenance of the fixed asset register.
  • Provide commentary and insight into income statements and balance sheet movements monthly.
  • Liaise with auditors and respond to audit requests on a timely basis.
  • Supervise 3rd party service providers to ensure timely preparation of accounts.
  • Review monthly calculations of statutory liabilities. i.e. WHT, VAT, PAYE, WCF and Pensions.
  • Compute operational taxes and prepare tax returns.
  • Ensure creditors, cashbooks and petty cash capturing is up to date and reviewed on a weekly basis. Ensure timely bank payments in the service entities.
  • Manage access to the accounting package, administration requirements and integrity checks.
  • Assist with designing a policy framework in finance and maintaining financial policies and regulations.
You will need
  • An accounting degree or relevant tertiary qualification.
  • A minimum of 2 - 3 years' experience in a similar / general accounting role, within the financial services industry.
  • Experience with tax, including withholding tax & VAT.
  • Experience in working with foreign currencies and multi-territory entities.
  • Excel experience, as well as accounting package familiarity.
  • Strong reporting skills and attention to detail.
  • To show initiative and the ability to identify, initiate and drive process improvements.
  • Ability to self manage and work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to adapt and work in a fast-changing environment.
Bonus if you have
  • Exposure to Pastel.
  • Experience accounting for Transfer Pricing transactions.
  • A relevant Tax qualification.
  • Experience working in a startup or growth environment.
  • Exposure to a Fintech and/or Technology business environment.
  • Emerging market experience.
  • Experience with accounting for forward exchange contracts.
  • Experience with consolidation.
