Job Description

The accountant is responsible for day-to-day operations of the finance department. The role requires a skilled ability to understand and operate the overall finance function at a demanding level. This role is vital to the finance function as it is the key focal point of the company's finances and holds major responsibility in the preparation of management deadlines. The accountant will be responsible to the Financial Manager and the General Manager who will review and authorise most job tasks.

Duties & Key Responsibilities of the Role

Reviewing the processing of bank statements

Reviewing the processing of Petty Cash transactions

Reviewing the raising of creditor invoices

Reviewing the raising of creditor return & debits

Reviewing the creation of creditors recons

Maintaining the supplier aged analysis and updating the cash flow appropriately

Passing various types of journals when required

Ensuring that 'match-open' items are applied correctly

Loading payments onto the banking system

Weekly

Reviewing the bank pack file before submission to the director

Ensuring the GRN Accrual account balances

Reviewing the chart of accounts to ensure there is no incorrect allocations

Monthly

Processing VAT and working paper files

Submitting the VAT calculation and releasing payment

Reviewing the creation of creditor recons

Reviewing other month-end recons

Processing the payroll journals

Submitting the monthly PAYE

Maintaining the donation schedule and submitting the monthly pay-out list to Al Imdaad

Reviewing and validating agency fees, releasing payment and passing the relevant journals

Maintaining the VAT 12 month forecast

Preparing the monthly management pack

Adhoc Duties

Liaising with external consultants

Liaising with suppliers

Liaising with the external auditors

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: R20000,00 - R25000,00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

Springfield, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
Education:

Bachelors (Preferred)
Experience:
