Provincial Treasury, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to assist with the implementation of Generally Recognised Accounting Practices (GRAP), conformance with relevant laws and regulations, the development of management accounting information and the development of Standard Chart of Accounts (SCOA) in order to enhance business decision-making and good governance.
Minimum Requirements An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (or higher qualification) in Accounting/Finance; A minimum of 3 years accounting experience in municipal accounting in a finance department; A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence.
Recommendation Experience in Generally, Recognised Accounting Practice (GRAP); Willing to travel.
Key Performance Areas Assess municipalities against the relevant Accounting Reporting Framework; Municipalities supported and monitored against Municipal Standard Chart of Accounts (mSCOA) implementation; Roll out of municipal support interventions to municipalities; Conduct municipal financial assessments based on financial statements and other related data.
Competencies Knowledge of municipal accounting systems; Skills needed: Proven computer literacy (MS Office); Analytical; Problem Solving/Decision-making; Written and verbal communication; Good numerical ability; Teamwork.
Remuneration R 424 104 per annum (Salary level 9) Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
