Job Description

The Actuarial Specialist will play a key role in enhancing our clients product division by developing cutting-edge actuarial solutions for product development, benefit design, pricing, and analytics. This role also involves providing valuable business intelligence across various domains, including marketing, distribution, operations, and clinical risk management.Key Responsibilities:

• Product Development & Benefit Design:

• Contribute to the creation of new healthcare products and the enhancement of existing ones, aligning them with customer needs.
• Regularly analyze competitor products and assess market conditions.
• Develop detailed product specifications and processes for system development and actuarial pricing.
• Support technical teams during product implementation.
• Assess the commercial viability of new business initiatives.
• Provide input on policy wording and customer communication materials.
• Pricing & Analytics:

• Prepare and explain financial forecasts, including experience variances.
• Monitor product performance and track related experience data.
• Compile monthly and annual financial reports.
• Create customized quotations for new business opportunities.
• Refine existing product pricing and develop pricing models for new products using dynamic pricing tools.

Education and Experience:

• A Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics at NQF level 7.
• Registered actuarial student with the Actuarial Society of South Africa, with 3 to 5 exams remaining to qualify as a Fellow.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in product development, benefit design, and pricing is an advantage.
