Provide administrative and creative support to the creative department including the soft lines and hard lines categories
Execute approvals for hard lines and soft lines products across all Mattel brands for the SA region
Maintain accurate administration records for all approvals.
Work in conjunction with the Associate Creative Manager, Creative Manager, Hard Lines & Soft Lines Business Manager to ensure that goals are met in line with company strategies and objectives
Manage Soft Lines DTR partners supplier approvals
Understand all rules and regulations contained in style guides, regarding the management of brands.
In conjunction with Associate Creative Manager, attend monthly Creative, Hard Lines, Publishing and Softline conference calls with Mattel/HIT.
Work through the product approval process with Mattel/HIT as required
Knowledge of manufacturing processes within the apparel or toy industry will be considered an asset
Sales experience and knowledge of retail environment
Product knowledge of any of the various core segments will be considered an asset

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In conjunction with the Associate Creative Manager, Soft Lines and Hard Lines & Publishing Business Managers, manage all facets of local product development including
Provide Creative Direction on Hard Lines, Publishing & Soft lines product
Hard Lines, Publishing and Soft Lines concept development (boards etc)
Ensure products reach the market with consistent quality and characteristics in line with Mattel/HIT direction.
Understand licensed product carried on each licensee contract and ensure that each licensee complies with the product specifications that have been agreed upon in their licensing contract.
Utilize Mattel Style Guides, Asset Packs and Toolkits to develop strong product concepts that supports the business needs.
Take inspiration from other Mattel/HIT regions and apply to South Africa where appropriate.
Understand all rules and regulations contained in style guides, regarding the management of brands.
In conjunction with Associate Creative Manager, attend monthly Creative, Hard Lines, Publishing and Soft line conference calls with Mattel/HIT.
Work through the product approval process with Mattel/HIT as required.
Communication with Licensees
Provide licensees with clear design direction and briefing to ensure a consistent brand image across all product development.
Conduct all product approvals across all brands, ensuring creative direction is in line with global brand image and global design strategy.
Keeping Mattel/HIT approval timelines in mind, ensure that licensee approvals are carried out in a timely fashion.
Ensure licensees receive notifications for updated style guides (core, seasonal and trend) to ensure they make use of current guides on Malibu.
Working with Associate Creative Manager, Hard Lines & Publishing and Soft lines Business Managers, take inspiration from Mattel/HIT and apply to licensees where appropriate.
Accurate record keeping and administration
Manage Mattel asset organization, by ensuring all assets are downloaded from Malibu and saved on the BHL server.
Keep accurate and up to date electronic records on the BHL server of all items submitted by licensees together with any other related communication.
Monitor & process the Hard Line tracking document.
Ensure all creative updates are documented on ZOHO on a regular bases to ensure accurate forecasting.
Ensure Licensees receive Malibu & Brand Comply access in order to access the necessary style guides and upload for approvals.
Ensure that bulk samples are received.
Monitor completion of NDA forms where necessary and submission to Mattel.
Manage administrative duties with our DTR partners. This will include uploading submissions to Mattel portals and asset management.
Management of creative samples
Management of the Creative Storeroom
Storeroom visits when necessary to, Collect Bulk Samples received from 104 Oxford reception and take to the Storeroom
Unpack and photograph all samples received
Hang one sample of each product on the rails and pack remaining samples in the relevant crates.
Capture Bulk Samples received on Zoho
Quarterly follow ups with Licensees on outstanding samples based on Zoho report
Understand the Mattel/HIT PI process including reporting lines, submission documentation and guideline documentation in place from Mattel/HIT.
Liaising with Licensees, ensuring that clear instruction has been given in terms of the PI process.
Working with the Business Managers and the Mattel quality engineer to ensure that documentation is tracked, communicated to licensees and received timeously.
Work with Mattel/HIT PI ensuring that all requirements in terms of PI have been sent and approved.
