Role Mission



As an

Africa Travel Specialist

, you will oversee the smooth execution of complex travel itineraries across multiple African destinations. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of travel, from logistics and client communication to product development and crisis management. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of African travel, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide high-level customer service in every aspect of the travel experience.



Please Note: this is a fully remote position. We are seeking individuals based in Cape Town willing to work on-call weekends.

You Will





Itinerary Management & Logistics

+ Oversee the smooth execution of travel itineraries across various African destinations.
+ Collaborate with Luxury Travel Advisors to provide personalized services, including excursions, transfers, dining, spa treatments, and special requests.
+ Align all bookings with client preferences and make adjustments as necessary throughout the planning process.
+ Work closely with ground operators, suppliers, and other partners to ensure all logistical details are handled efficiently.

Crisis Management & Problem Solving

+ Address unforeseen issues or emergencies during client trips, such as flight delays, medical emergencies, or political instability.
+ Provide immediate, sound solutions and ensure clients are supported during any disruptions.

Quality Assurance & Client Satisfaction

+ Implement quality control measures to ensure all elements of the travel experience meet or exceed client expectations.
+ Collect client feedback and utilize it to improve operational processes and service offerings.

Product Recommendations & Innovation

+ Offer creative and personalized suggestions for itineraries that align with client interests and preferences.
+ Stay current with the latest trends in African travel, discovering new destinations, activities, and suppliers.

Compliance & Regulatory Knowledge

+ Stay informed on travel regulations, visa requirements, and any legal compliance matters related to travel within Africa.
+ Ensure that clients are provided with accurate and timely information regarding travel regulations.

Post-Booking Support & Client Communication

+ Build detailed itineraries on Wetu to UJV standards, ensuring the accuracy of all travel arrangements.
+ Serve as the main point of contact for clients after booking, addressing inquiries and ensuring they feel confident and well-informed about their upcoming journey.
+ Provide essential travel details, including guides, packing lists, visa information, and any other relevant updates to ensure a smooth experience.
+ Work directly with internal travel advisors to manage post-booking processes, ensuring that clients' in-country needs are addressed promptly.
+ Handle client inquiries via email and phone, resolving all issues promptly and professionally while countries are in-country.

You Are




Someone with previous experience booking and working within an African Destination Management Company (DMC). Fluent in English, with professional to native written and verbal communication skills. Knowledgeable about African travel destinations, logistics, and regulations. A strong problem-solver with experience handling travel-related emergencies. A clear communicator, capable of interacting effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams. Experienced with itinerary management systems such as Wetu or similar platforms. Passionate about travel and delivering exceptional customer service. Highly organized, able to multitask and manage multiple clients and itineraries simultaneously. Someone who resides in South Africa. Preferably, in the city of Cape Town. * A team player who thrives in a collaborative/start-up environment and is eager to provide support, guidance, and expertise as needed.
