Agronomy Assistant - DelmasFull job descriptionWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Agronomy Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our agronomists and researchers to support field trials, data collection, and research activities aimed at enhancing crop production and sustainability. The most suitable candidate would be 30 years or older. Key Responsibilities:Assist in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of field experiments, trials, and demonstrations to evaluate agronomic practices, crop varieties, and soil management techniques.Conduct fieldwork activities such as planting, fertilizing, irrigating, and harvesting crops, and monitoring crop health and growth stages.Collect and record data on crop performance, soil characteristics, weather conditions, pest and disease incidence, and other relevant variables using established protocols and tools.Assist in analyzing collected data using software or statistical tools to identify trends, correlations, and insights that inform agronomic recommendations and research findings.Assist in conducting literature reviews, experimental design, and laboratory analysis to support agronomic research projects.Monitor and maintain research equipment, supplies, and facilities, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly calibrated.Assist in the adoption and utilization of precision agriculture technologies, including GPS mapping, remote sensing, and data-driven decision-making tools.Collaborate with agronomists, researchers, and extension agents to disseminate research findings and best practices to farmers, agricultural stakeholders, and the wider community.Assist with administrative tasks such as organizing field trials, maintaining research records, preparing reports, and managing inventory of supplies and equipment.Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related field.Previous experience in agricultural research, fieldwork, or crop production is preferred but not required. 7 years required.Strong interest in agronomy, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship.Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis software.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to field sites as needed.
