The role will be a consultant within the air quality and climate change team based in our Johannesburg or Durban office, although working on projects nationally. The role will predominantly focus on dispersion modelling, although support in other air quality and climate change services, such as air quality monitoring, will also be required from time to time.


WSP Africa also runs projects outside of South Africa, presenting travelling opportunities and access to a diverse range of air quality projects. From a global perspective, WSP Africa collaborates closely with our Australian, Canadian, Middle East and UK Businesses, presenting unique opportunities to our local Air Quality team.


Key Responsibilities:

Compile emission inventories, inclusive of greenhouse gas inventories. Dispersion modelling (AERMOD, CALPUFF). Compile Atmospheric Impact Reports, Air Quality Impact Assessments and Air Quality Management Plans. Support Atmospheric Emission License applications and renewals. Compile Annual Reports and undertake NAEIS submissions. Prepare for and undertake fieldwork, inclusive of dust fallout, meteorological and particulate monitoring, passive sampling, active sampling, acoustic monitoring and Leak Detection and Repair. Processing, formatting, and analysis of ambient air quality monitoring data. Compile ambient air quality monitoring reports and environmental acoustic monitoring reports. Support projects managers to ensure effective delivery of air quality projects. Meet all health and safety requirements, as required by WSP and clients. Support the broader WSP Earth & Environment business, as required.

Qualifications



Minimum of 3-years' experience in air quality consulting, with a strong focus on emission inventories and dispersion modelling. Minimum 3-year relevant degree, with Honours or Masters

Key Competencies and generic skills:

Knowledge of the South African environmental/air quality legislation Technical report writing skills including the ability to produce professional reports in fluent English Computer literate, inclusive of a strong understanding of the Microsoft software suite Background in climate change advantageous
