To support the outperformance ambition of Everyday Banking, collections analysts are expected to demonstrate excellent understanding of risk management, data analytics and collections strategy. The responsibilities of a collections analyst are outlined in this document, and performance objectives are to be aligned with this guideline.EB Risk: Collections & Debt ReviewThe collections and debt review team is the last line of defence in the credit risk value chain. To support the outperformance ambition of Everyday Banking, collections analysts are expected to demonstrate excellent understanding of risk management, data analytics and collections strategy. The responsibilities of a collections analyst are outlined in this document, and performance objectives are to be aligned with this guideline.Collections strategy management:

  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of the portfolio
  • Clear understanding of collections and impairments, and the drivers thereof
  • Clear understanding of the documented strategy and policy within portfolio
  • Conduct quality credit risk assessments and reviews for all BAU processes and strategy
  • Proactively manage credit risks associated with clients
  • Design and develop data driven collections strategies by identifying gaps, providing solutions, and aligning to overall portfolio strategy, e.g., provide insights and solutions to inform STP/RAF targets
  • Embed enhancements to collections strategies through rigorous research and interrogation of data
Data and Systems Management:
  • Drive ownership of BAU, Ad-Hoc, and automated SAS codes (i.e., know the data sources used, logic applied)
  • To produce and analyse relevant management information and insights within stipulated SLA
  • Perform quality data analysis and data processing techniques (i.e., sourcing, cleaning, analysing, validation and consolidating large data sets utilising strong SAS skills and identifying anomalies/trends)
Governance:
  • Adhere to the bank's credit risk policies and all relevant legislation
  • Complete compliance training within given timelines
  • Support end-to-end audit and governance processes
  • Keep abreast with regulatory changes as it relates to collections
  • Align to BU and industry best practices
  • Support processes relating to portfolio forums, i.e., minute taking, completing actions on the action log, updating discussion papers, etc.
  • Understand, investigate, and provide thorough feedback on exceptions
  • Save analytics and BAU files on the shared drive, adhering to agreed standards
Customer and stakeholder management:
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders, including IT, Operations, Finance, and other Risk teams
  • Support the investigation and resolution of all escalated customer complaints
  • Active participation and constructive engagement at various forums, e.g., CRF, PQR, Ops engagement sessions.
  • Presentation of analytical results and proposals to both technical and non-technical audiences, providing commentary as required
  • Drive a collaborative culture with peers through knowledge sharing
