Certified by the Top Employer Institute 2024.Role Purpose/Business Unit:The Senior Specialist: Application Support role within the Data Enablement division is a multifaceted position with a broad range of responsibilities, The role is essential for maintaining operational excellence and ensuring that the technology infrastructure supports the organization's financial and operational objectives effectively. It requires a candidate who is adept at managing complex audits, technology resilience, service operations, and continual improvement within the DevOps framework.Your responsibilities will include:Audit and Compliance:

  • Conducting FRR Audits for finance-related reporting.
  • Overseeing SOX Audits to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Performing IPE Audits on Infoweb reports, now limited to ODS reports.
Technology Resilience and Assurance:
  • Comprehensive assessments and audits in IT, GITC, Statutory, and SOX.
  • Reviewing TRPs for various platforms to ensure resilience.
  • Coordinating disaster recovery tests (Resilience DRT Executions).
  • Conducting biannual Resilience E2E Testing.
Service Operations:
  • Managing incidents and problems across DE applications.
  • Ensuring service delivery, capacity, performance, and availability.
  • Overseeing change management and service transitions.
  • Operational Health and Capacity Management:
  • Monitoring system and application health.
  • Managing ASICS controls, reviews, and approvals.
  • Coordinating monthly KPI/KASM Reporting.
  • Driving Continual Service Improvement initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate for this role will have:Must have technical / professional qualifications and experience:
  • A minimum of 5+ years in application support roles is often required.
  • A bachelor's diploma/degree in computer science or a related field is essential.
  • Grade 12 essential.
  • Certifications Advantageous
  • Knowledge of data warehouse concepts:
  • physical database design
  • Data Transformation
  • Architecture
  • Able to understand:
  • Data modelling
  • ETL Architecture and Design
  • Evaluate and construct.
  • SQL scripts
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
Technical Skills:
  • Application Support: Proficiency in supporting various software applications and systems on premise and cloud.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database management.
  • Programming Languages: Familiarity with Python other programming languages.
  • Incident Management: Experience with incident resolution, change management and problem-solving.
  • Scripting: Ability to write and interpret complex scripts.
  • Technology Tools: Knowledge of tools like: DevOps tools (GitHub,bitbucker), ITIL, and familiarity with software applications, Big data, hyperscalers (aws,gcp ), Visualisation (Qlik, OBEE) and other ETL's tools like Abinitio, DataStage
.Soft Skills:
  • Communication: Effective communication with users and team members to resolve support issues.
  • Problem-Solving: Adept at troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Risk Management: Ability to identify and manage risks that could impact project scope and quality.
  • Project Management: Skills in managing projects, ensuring they meet deadlines and budget constraints.
  • 1+ year's working experience in an Agile Delivery Team will be advantageous.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent team working, interpersonal and facilitation skills in multi-functional team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities
  • Analytical and problem solving and logical thinking skills.
  • Ability to think outside of the norm and challenge the status quo by providing innovative alternatives
  • Ability to present information and argue points.
  • Organized, adaptable, a self-starter, highly motivated by challenge, and a team player
