The Projects team is searching for a Area Projects Manager to join our business located in Richards Bay, KZN.Reporting to the Head of Capex, the successful incumbent will need to manage projects from start to end across the business. The role will require expertise in the creation of Business Cases, Project Budgets and cashflows, Project Plans, and associated project materials.Profile Requirements:

  • B Sc or BEng or BTech Engineering degree (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Civil)
  • 1-year minimum advanced certificate/diploma in project management would be advantageous
  • Pr Eng (Professional Engineer) registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of SA) or eligible
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification with PMI (Project Management Institute) or eligible
Experience:
  • 7 years Project Management experience in an industrial environment, 5 years of which have been in a leadership role
  • Experience within the Pulp & Paper industry will be beneficial
  • Must have expert understanding of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) Disciplines (Integration, Scope, Time, Quality, Cost, Human Resources, Communications, Risk Management, Procurement)
  • Must have experience creating Business Cases, Project Budgets and cashflows, Project Plans, and associated project materials
  • Must have experience in procurement (Contractual Law and negotiation)
Key Performance Areas:
  • Ensures compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental policies and ensures legal compliance
  • Plans, develops and manages the short, medium and long term capital budget programme for the designated Plant area according to technical and capex strategy
  • Manages the Project area personnel ensuring optimal resourcing to provide the agreed deliverables and operated within the agreed financial constraints
  • Creates business cases, project budgets, cash flows, project plans
  • Takes direct responsibility for project engineering and construction work within the designated plant area
  • Ensures that all statutory requirements for individual projects are identified and addressed
  • Monitors projects to ensure that they are completed within committed time, scope, quality and budget.
  • Manages capital budget and cashflow to ensure that they are maintained within agreed parameters
  • Directs and guides the activities of all area project personnel to ensure that projects are implemented successfully
  • Ensures alignment on commercial and contractual side with procurement, finance, legal and other stakeholders
  • Advises senior management about the area project portfolio status and maintains excellent communication with all stakeholders to ensure smooth running of all projects undertaken by team
  • Provides leadership, direction and coaching on project specific tasks as well as individual professional development to help team members achieve individual expectations and deliverables
  • Supports Group Engineering Standards, Processes and Procedures necessary to produce the deliverables from the team and to work effectively with the other teams
  • Provides technical assistance in identifying, evaluating and developing proposals in line with asset integrity and reliability that lead to improved cost competitiveness of MSA and meet good business practice
  • Takes ownership and delivery responsibility for special and strategic projects
  • Ensures accurate reporting
