Job Description

Our client seeks an experienced Artisan Fitter to join their TMM Fleet team for underground mining operations in the Northern Cape. This role aims to oversee the safe installation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical equipment, such as crushers, gearboxes, and pumps (Fermel, CAT, Sandvik, Epiroc, and Atlas Copco)Position details:Type: PermanentKey Responsibilities:Health and SafetyAlways demonstrate safety compliance by wearing appropriate PPE.Participate in pre-shift meetings.Report any unsafe conditions or behaviours promptly.Adhere strictly to mine and client policies and procedures.Prioritize safety in all actions.Maintenance and FabricationImplement and adhere to maintenance schedules.Conduct maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment (including pumps, screens, crushers, gearboxes, etc.).Perform plant inspections on key mechanical components.Identify and prioritize equipment requiring maintenance or repairs.Plan downtime for necessary repairs and maintenance.Coordinate resources (materials and personnel) required for repairs and maintenance.Conduct risk assessments and follow procedural guidelines.Perform repairs and maintenance tasks.Fabricate general steelwork as needed.Location: Northern CapeJob Qualifications, Skills & Experience:Qualifications:Grade 12/N3 with Mechanical Engineering subjects.Trade test certification as a Fitter (MQA/MERSETA)Experience:10 years of post-trade test experience as a Fitter (Section 13 Artisan).Exposure to maintenance of underground machinery (Strong and diverse machining abilities required).Skills, Qualities, and Abilities:Strong verbal communication skills.Ability to recognize and address unsafe conditions and behaviours.Familiarity with planned maintenance documentation and procedures.Basic planning skills with an emphasis on risk assessment.Proficiency in mechanical engineering tasks.Valid driver's license.Knowledge of how to order PPE.Additional information:Valid EB / Code 8 Drivers LicenseComputer literacy MS Office SuiteBe prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, callouts, and work overtimeSuccessfully obtain a Medical Certificate of Fitness to work undergroundCompany Description:Our client is a prominent mining concern dedicated to maintaining high standards of operational excellence and safety within the mining industry.
