To inspect and repair electrical networks in buildings, assist with other general maintenance and operations (both hard and soft services) of the building and facilities which include but is not limited to building maintenance, renovations and repairs, office accommodation planning and health & safety
Site tasks and duties execution to minimise downtime, maximum life cycle of mechanical/HVAC equipment and quality inspection of electrical products for functionality

Key performance areas:
Implement strategic Facilities Management objectives through the design and implementation of an effective facilities work plan and management
Conduct periodic inspections, assessments and evaluations of sites and identify corrective actions required for maintenance
Attend to breakdowns and do repairs or take appropriate corrective action
Prepare, implement, and monitor SLA for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Comply with service level agreements (SLAs) for operational services
Monitor maintenance contracts and manage mainly electrical but also mechanical, gas and HVAC operational services
Report any site/facilities issues to management as and when required
Provide effective and quality support to events and meetings
In conjunction with Facilities Officer, plan and prepare new electrical requirements for office accommodation space utilisation, execute implementation of electrical installations in offices, labs, pharmacies
Be prepared to travel from time to time to remote sites
Obtain relevant information and history on building, sites and offices occupied
In conjunction with Facilities Officer, liaise with and assign suppliers and/or contractors when required
Provide project management assistance with site renovation projects according to quality standards and deadlines
Conduct inspections, manage snag lists and site hand over
Report any renovation/office planning issues and matters to management as and when required
Execute electrical maintenance, fault finding on electrical installations, issue of COC for electrical installations
Ditto for electrical equipment, plant and machinery
Ditto for mechanical, gas and HVAC installations
Understand and execute OHS standards and requirements applicable to the works
Maintain a clean, neat and orderly workplace
Inspect electrical systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance and troubleshooting fault finding assessment results and maintenance report findings
Connects electrical systems to municipal power/generator capacity/UPS systems to provide electricity to the building
Understand retrofitting and green technology standards for electricity such as solar power and similar
Oversee and if applicable facilitate the inspection of and/or repair of wiring, Aircons, Generators, UPS, HVAC Systems and any other electrical equipment
Purchase goods for maintenance or repairs within budgetary guidelines
Procure suppliers and contractors according to relevant policies and procedures
Make recommendations for preferred suppliers in accordance with company policies and donor requirements
Obtain quotes and select suppliers and/or external contractors according to legal regulations and donor requirements
Adhere to asset management policies and procedures
Comply with relevant controls to ensure that assets are maintained, moved and stored effectively and with care. Notify Asset Officer of any anticipated asset transfers or disposals
Plan, monitor and implement quarterly stock takes in conjunction with the Asset Officer
Liaise with the Facilities Officer to integrate SHE requirements with the facilities portfolio
Implement relevant health and safety policies and procedures
Supervise subordinates, service providers and liaise with other staff regarding subject matter.
Reinforce adherence of SHE requirements for contractors and suppliers
Dispose of medical and other waste according to relevant policies and procedures
Provide assistance with facilities related queries and, if applicable, redirect it accordingly
Act as the point of contact in assisting staff with the implementation of relevant vehicle policies and procedures, breakdowns and vehicle maintenance
Screen telephone calls and emails from service desk and management, attend to enquiries or requests and handle them according to company policy and turnaround timeframes
Maintain relevant electronic and manual filing systems. Maintain all current spreadsheets and records to always ensure data integrity
Compile relevant weekly and monthly reports that include feedback on key performance areas
Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-management
Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
Take ownership for driving own career by participating in ongoing training and development activities
Required minimum education and training:
Grade 12 with a relevant technical electrical qualification
A Qualified Electrician
Trade Tested (Red Seal)
Proof of registration with Department of Labour (DoL)
Valid South African drivers license
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum 3 years relevant experience as an electrician on buildings and or electrical installations
Working knowledge of MS Office packages
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
Certification in project management and Health & Safety would be an advantage
Good organisational skills are required
