Job Summary JOB TITLE: Assistant Mechanic
AREA: Pomona, Kempton Park
INDUSTRY: Electronic Recycling
Salary / CTC: R 10 000 (depending on current earnings, qualifications and experience)
Report to: Directors
Type: Fixed term ContractKey Responsibilities
Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance
- Assist in inspecting and diagnosing mechanical issues.
- Support in routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
- Help with tire replacements, rotations, and balancing.
- Clean and maintain tools and workstations.
- Help troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Assist in replacing or repairing parts like brakes, belts, hoses, and gaskets.
- Work with senior mechanics to complete engine overhauls or major repairs (currently outsourced)
- Assist in maintaining records of repairs and maintenance work.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Basic knowledge of mechanical tools and repair techniques.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
- Physical stamina to lift heavy parts and work in various conditions.
- Preferred Experience & Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certificate or diploma in mechanics (preferred but not required).
- 5 years experience in a mechanical workshop or similar environment is a plus.
