Job Description


The Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to develop database of relevant information as a resource base for CDW's to provide communities, human resources, financial and strategic inputs. Identify and refer issues arising from communities to relevant role players, coordinate information on government programmes to be disseminated to communities and monitor and evaluate the overall impact of the CDW Programme.
Minimum RequirementsAn appropriate 3 year National Diploma/B-degree (equivalent or higher qualification); A minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
Recommendation Experience in the following: Financial management; Monitoring systems; A valid code B (or higher) driving license. NB: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply.
Key Performance Areas Identify the most common issues requiring support; Collate and coordinate relevant information on government services and programmes in conjunction with Cape Gateway that respond to the community issues identified in the reports; Develop appropriate communications materials to disseminate the information on available programmes; Design and develop resource base for CDWs by locating required information to enable them to do their work effectively; Active involvement in strategic planning processes of the Department; Identify gaps in legislation/policies regarding to dealing with cases and seek solutions thereto; Ensure adherence to all financial Acts and relevant prescripts and that the Directorate is not committed to any liability for which money has not been appropriated.
CompetenciesKnowledge of the following: Public sector; DLG KPAs; Monitoring and reporting procedures; Community development; Project management. Skills in the following: Computer literacy; Written and communication skills; Management skills; Conflict management; Interpersonal skills; Organising and planning skills.
RemunerationR 444 036 per annum (Salary level 9)Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements
