Job Description


The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to render a service which supports the fostering of a provincial identity and the protection of rights by preserving a provincial archival heritage for use by the government and the nation according to the Provincial Archives and Records Service of the Western Cape Act, 2005 (Act No. 3 of 2005).
Minimum RequirementsAn appropriate 3-year B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) majoring in Information Management Systems; A minimum of 5 years relevant electronic records management experience; A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence. NB: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply.
RecommendationQualification in Archives and Records Management. Knowledge of managing electronic records, database and systems.
Key Performance AreasManagement and administration of the E-Records Management Division; People management; Approval of electronic records management systems; Development and maintenance of electronic records management systems; Audits of electronic records management systems; Guides and directives: Compilation and updating of electronic records management.
CompetenciesKnowledge of the following: Managing electronic databases; Automated storage and retrieval systems, electronic records, database design and electronic publications; Legislation, policies and procedures of the Western Cape Archives and Records Service; Relevant Public Management practices; Financial Management and supply chain management services; Public service reporting structures; Strategic planning; Meeting procedures; Skills needed: Organising, problem solving, research; Communication (written and verbal).
RemunerationR 444 036 per annum (Salary level 9)Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
