The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government seeks to employ a competent individual to assist local municipalities to undertake human settlement planning. This position is based in Cape Town CBD.
Minimum RequirementsAn appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (B-Degree/National or relevant qualification) in Urban/ Town and Regional Planning; A minimum of 3-years post qualification Town and Regional Planning experience; Registration with SACPLAN as a professional Town and Regional Planner on appointment; A valid driving licence.

Key Performance AreasInfluence forward planning through the IDP and sectoral plans,Render technical support in Project planning and packaging, Undertake research/ analysis to monitor progression of projects, Provide inputs for SCOPA, parliamentary enquiries as well as for Minister briefing,Assist and contribute to the Development Plans for Priority Human Settlement and Housing Development Areas (PHSHDAs), Support the coordination of project identification, planning, bugdeting and implementation with provincial sector departments,Delegate and commit tasks to Candidate Planner, Manage leave, performace reviews and related HR matters, Ensure spending consistent to PFMA.
Competencies Proven project management and administration skills; Ability to operate at a strategic level and manage engagements with stakeholders and partners; Ability to interpret relevant public service legislation, policies, prescripts and procedures; Report writing; Communication (written and verbal) skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
RemunerationR 424 104 per annum (Salary level 9).Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
