An established horticultural farming operation in Mpumalanga is recruiting an Assistant Grower for their Greenhouse Crops.Job Overview:
The Assistant Grower works directly under the supervision of the Head Grower (HG) to ensure the efficient, high-quality production of crops within a greenhouse environment. This role requires a solid understanding of hydroponics, plant cultivation, and effective team management. The Assistant Grower will be integral in achieving output, quality, and cost targets, while supporting pest management, staff training, and ensuring smooth operational practices.Key Responsibilities: * Support the Head Grower:

• Collaborate with the Head Grower in the cultivation and maintenance of crops.
• Ensure adherence to quality, output, and cost targets as set by the Head Grower.
• Pest Management:

• Assist in the implementation of pest management strategies and activities alongside the Head Grower.
• Monitor and manage pest-related issues in the greenhouse.
• Team Management:

• Assist in overseeing a variety of cultivation staff, including administrators and maintenance team members.
• Provide leadership and support to ensure the team works efficiently and in alignment with company goals.
• Training & Development:

• Facilitate the training of all cultivation and support staff on proper growing techniques, safety protocols, and company policies.
• Ensure that team members are kept up-to-date on best practices in greenhouse cultivation and hydroponics.
• Plant Growing Protocols:

• Maintain and implement plant growing protocols using optimized data gathered throughout the growing cycle.
• Ensure the protocols are followed rigorously to achieve the desired crop quality and yield.
• Inventory Control:

• Manage inventory for materials that directly impact cultivation and production, ensuring optimal stock levels and availability.
• Maintenance Coordination:

• Work closely with the Facility Manager and maintenance team on preventive and scheduled maintenance for greenhouse equipment and systems.
• Ensure that all maintenance activities are completed on time to avoid disruption to operations.
• Data Management:

• Ensure that all data logs related to cultivation and operations are consistently updated, accurate, and accessible.
• Regularly review and adjust protocols based on data collected throughout the growing process.
• Weekend Availability:

• Be available to work on weekends as required, ensuring ongoing operations and crop care.
