You will contribute to the success of our multi asset portfolios by supporting portfolio managers responsible for managing funds and platform based managed portfolios for clients of financial advisers.You will also be involved in fund research and selection, fundamental asset class research, portfolio implementation, performance attribution and client reporting. These activities are typically undertaken as part of a small team with a shared responsibility for the outcome. Alongside these varied daily activities, you will contribute to longer term projects as we continually improve our investment methodologies and processes. You will also take part in a structured learning and development programme as you progress towards becoming a great investor.

The role will report into MIM SA Head of Investments (Sean Neethling).Job ResponsibilitiesResearch third-party investment managers for clients and deliver regular reports on these managers.Assume responsibility for a portion of manager buy and approved lists covering one of more asset classes.Support portfolio managers to construct multi asset portfolios that are consistent with MIMs capital markets and manager research views and aligned to Morningstars investment principles.Support portfolio managers to keep portfolios in structure by managing cashflows, portfolio rebalancing and implementing changes in target weights in a timely, cost effective and compliant manner.Participate in discussions about capital markets, investment strategies and portfolio construction.Contribute to the external profile for IM as a thought leadership brand through publications, media engagements, conference presentations and client meetings.Support investment reporting activity, including written commentary on funds and portfolios.Contribute to the relationship management with South African financial advisers.QualificationsComfortable working in a quantitative environment with a desire for continuous learning.Independent minded with a desire to make high quality investment decisions.Desire to work in a team-based environment and willingness to contribute to investment ideas.A commitment to putting end investors first in all situations.Familiarity with quantitative tools and techniques, with foundational coding abilities including Python and other programming languages.1 - 3 years investment and / or financial services experience preferred.Post graduate degree education in Finance / Economics / Mathematics / Statistics, with either completion of, or willingness to pursue, CFA studies preferred.409_MIMSoAfrPtyLtd Morningstar Investment Management South Africa (Pty) Ltd Legal EntityMorningstars hybrid work environment gives you the opportunity to work remotely and collaborate in-person each week.
