The Department of Economics strives to be a leading academic department that
exemplifies excellence and innovation in the discipline by shifting towards a more
quantitative curriculum and more research output. We are therefore looking for
qualified academic who can contribute immensely to these ambitions. Accordingly,
applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for appointment to the following
position:
Requirements:
Doctoral degree in Economics.
Proven track record of at least five (5) publications (for Associate Professor)
and at least three (3) publications (for Senior Lecturer) in SAPSE accredited
journals, respectively.
Proven track record of Research supervision at Masters' and Doctoral levels.
A minimum of five (5) years' teaching experience (for Associate Professor), and
three (3) years' (for Senior Lecturer) in a tertiary institution.
Computer literacy is compulsory, especially a sound knowledge of MS Word,
MS Excel and Internet.
Duties:
The successful candidate will be required to:
Lecture and supervise at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Economics.
In addition to common economics modules, teach at least anyone of the
following modules: Econometrics, Statistics for Economics and Mathematical
Economics.
Undertake proven research in the field of Economics and Econometrics.
Participate in academic leadership and quality control.
Develop and maintain professional, industry, and community partnerships.
