Job SummaryCORE PURPOSE OF JOBTo lecture at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, conduct and publish research within the disciplines of Industrial and Organisational Psychology, Labour Relations and Human Resources. To supervise postgraduate students, and deal with administrative work. The primary focus of this post will be to lecture Industrial and Organisational Psychology, Labour Relations and Human Resource Management as well as to co-ordinate the MCom Employee Relations and Human Resources programme.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Facilitate teaching and learning of Industrial and Organisational Psychology, Labour Relations and Human Resources within industry/corporate world or preferably within Academia
  • Conduct and publish research in accredited journals
  • Supervise postgraduate students (Honours and Masters)
  • Co-ordinate postgraduate programmes
  • Provide academic administration and academic leadership
  • Work closely with the other members of the Department of Industrial and Organisational Psychology
as well as those from the School of Industrial Psychology and Human Resource ManagementCORE COMPETENCIES
  • Knowledge of theory and application in Industrial and Organisational Psychology, Labour Relations and Human Resource Management
  • Ability to co-ordinate Masters programmes specifically in the field of Employee Relations and Humans Resources
  • Ability to facilitate training within industry/corporate world or preferably learning at under- and postgraduate levels
  • Ability to plan, conduct, present and publish research
  • Ability to supervise postgraduate students
  • Ability to administer and co-ordinate modules involving large numbers of students
  • Ability to provide academic administration and academic leadership
REQUIREMENTSIn order to be considered for appointment to the Senior Lecturer post, candidates must:
  • Be in possession of a doctoral degree in Industrial/Organisational Psychology.
  • Be professionally registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an Industrial Psychologist.
  • Have experience or demonstrate competency to co-ordinating Masters programmes specifically in the field of Employee Relations and Human Resources.
  • Have experience in facilitating training within industry/corporate world or preferably lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Preferably have published journal articles in accredited journals and book chapters.
  • Preferably have presented research findings at conferences.
  • Preferably have a track record of successful research supervision and examination of postgraduate students.
To be considered for appointment to the Associate Professor post, candidates must:
  • Be in possession of a doctoral degree in Industrial/Organisational Psychology.
  • Be professionally registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an Industrial Psychologist.
  • Have experience in facilitating training within industry/corporate world or lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Have experience in providing leadership
  • Preferably have published journal articles in accredited journals and book chapters.

  • Preferably have a track record of successful research supervision of postgraduate students.
