The Department of Curriculum Studies supports innovative research that aims to address education practice and provide opportunities for international cooperation.Duties:For Associate Professor:Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in mathematics education, with both primary and high school focus;Engaging in research in mathematics education and related fields;Publishing research in reputable academic and peer-reviewed journals;Supervising postgraduate students in mathematics education and related fields;Participating in social impact projects in mathematics education and rendering appropriate services to the University and teaching community;Contributing to academic administration and leadership in the discipline, Department and Faculty.For Senior Lecturer / Lecturer:Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in mathematics education, with both primary and high school focus;Engaging in research in mathematics education and related fields;Publishing research in reputable academic and peer-reviewed journals;Supervising postgraduate students in mathematics education and related fields;Participating in social impact projects in mathematics education and rendering appropriate services to the University and teaching community;Contributing to academic administration and leadership in the discipline, Department and Faculty.Requirements:For Associate Professor:A strong background in mathematics (mathematics 3 or equivalent);A relevant PhD with mathematics education as the focus;A teaching qualification;Evidence of strong and current publications in peer-reviewed journals;Evidence of postgraduate supervision at honours, masters and doctoral level in mathematics education and other related fields;Experience in teaching mathematics education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.For Senior Lecturer:A strong background in mathematics (mathematics 3 or equivalent);A relevant PhD with mathematics education as the focus;A teaching qualification;Evidence of strong and current publications in peer-reviewed journals;Evidence of postgraduate supervision at honours, masters and doctoral level in Mathematics Education and related fieldsExperience in teaching mathematics education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.For Lecturer:A strong background in mathematics (mathematics 3 or equivalent);A relevant masters degree with mathematics education as the focus;A teaching qualification;Evidence or potential to publish in peer-reviewed journals;Evidence or willingness to supervise postgraduate students in mathematics education and related fields;Experience in teaching mathematics education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.Recommendations:For Associate Professor:Experience and/or knowledge of technology-aided education;National Research Foundation (NRF) rating;Departmental and/or Faculty leadership and management experience.For Senior Lecturer / Lecturer:Experience and/or knowledge of technology-aided education;National Research Foundation (NRF) rating;Departmental and/or Faculty leadership and management experience.
