The Associate Quantity Surveyor leads and delivers complex projects across the full spectrum of cost management activities under minimal direction and while managing a team. Shares technical expertise and experience with others in the company via internal technical communication and presentations.
Ensures compliance with project execution plans and will have supervisory responsibilities to ensure essential procedures are followed.
Technical Delivery Management:
- May act as a line manager and should be able to mentor, monitor timekeeping and carry out performance reviews, providing feedback on allocated technical staff.
- Plays an active role in the technical development of the allocated team. Acts in a supporting role to the Team Director by delegating work and directing less experienced staff to complete assigned projects' technical tasks.
- Able to monitor and track the budget for specific tasks within the project.
Technical Excellence:
- Leading client engagement across the portfolio of projects
- Accountable for a variety of complex deliverables throughout the lifecycle of multiple projects, generally within an end market sector
- Manages the resources across a portfolio of projects, all within the established budgets
- Accountable for briefing the team on project scopes to ensure roles and responsibilities are understood
. Monitors and manages the performance of direct reports
- Functioning as a Project Manager on APIC on up to 5 active projects
- Manages project services and projects using APIC and other systems as relevant
- Responsible for timely cash collection in compliance with contract terms
- Responsible for ensuring that any additional work/changes in scope are approved by clients
- Ensures all deliverables comply with the PDS
- Complies with all QA requirements
- Benchmarks project data
- Participates in internal and external networking
Project Management:
- Acts as Project Manager on small to medium size discipline-specific projects.
- Understands of project delivery requirements and is well versed with AECOM's project delivery procedures.
Client Relationship Management:
- Supports business development and selling initiatives to expand work assignments, including managing client relationships and expectations.
- Assists with proposals and participates in the development of bids and technical write-up for proposals.
-Leads communication with clients to discuss work scope, requests information to support project execution and receives client comments on draft work products.
- Presents to clients, senior leadership and other project stakeholders to demonstrate progress and clearly explains design principles.
Interdisciplinary Coordination:
- Coordinate with the other disciplines to ensure there are gaps and provide fully coordinated design deliverables.
- Provides support of the construction supervision teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying from an accredited, internationally recognized institution or University.
- Professionally registered with SACQSP
- Minimum 12 years experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the built environment
