Job Description


AttorneyMain Purpose of Role
The total management and co-ordination of all legal document generation on portfolio level including the receiving of new matters upon handover and the subsequent follow through until completion of legal collections process. The managing, updating and review of system templates and coordinating of work throughout legal department. Ensuring the preparation of court documents is done by team according to relevant standards of compliance. High pressured delivery of specific outcomes in order to decrease time to cash. Cost effective management of all matters being attended to. General networking capability and good rapport with external stakeholder, including sheriffs, correspondents and courts on nationwide platform. Complete management and delivery of financial and process targets in line with business expectations. Providing strategic insights and action plans to achieve business targets and goals on assigned portfolio. Complete management and oversight for the portfolio in the business unit.Required Minimum Education / Training

  • Grade 12
  • BCOM LLB, BA LLB
  • Specialisation in any related field will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge and understanding of debt collection and emolument attachment order collections
Required Minimum Work Experience
  • Admitted Attorney
  • Working experience post articles
  • Experience in a legal collections environment
  • Experience in staff management
Key Performance Areas
Manage Cash Collections / Legal Process
  • Daily analysis and job allocation plus prioritisation of account management in the debt collection industry
  • Overseeing, and coordinating of legal documentation preparation including:
  • Summons
  • Requests for Default Judgment
  • Emoluments Attachment Orders
  • Section 65
  • Warrant of Execution
  • Implement and manage risk and ensure compliance with current legislative regulation
Book File Management /Budget Management
  • Monitor and manage file movement between processing officers and team leaders through the different areas of responsibility.
  • Overall management of and prioritisation of large volumes of accounts to maximise collections
  • Daily reporting on operations
  • Extract, analyse and address exceptions.
  • Quality assurance of all actions taken by staff
  • Coordinate and distribute legal documents to the appropriate areas within the portfolio.
  • Identify and communicate problem areas and actively provide alternatives to Third Parties.
  • Control and manage the Legal filing system in accordance with agreed policy.
Relationship Management
  • Implement systems to manage team dynamics and productivity
  • Provide support and guidance to team
  • Create and implement strategies to be followed in the legal collections process
  • Give input on operational issues.
