Job SummaryWe are seeking a confident, playful, and energetic au pair to support two brothers, aged 5 and 3.The ideal candidate should be organized, gentle, and proactive, with a natural ability to connect with young children.The right person will be kind, patient, and compassionate, enjoying activities such as educational play, creative arts and crafts, floor-time, and outdoor adventures. They should be enthusiastic about finding fun and meaningful ways to engage and stimulate the boys' growing minds.The 5-year-old has a great imagination and loves animals, snakes, and building with Lego. His younger brother is passionate about farm animals, puzzles, music, and creative construction activities. Both boys thrive outdoors and love spending time playing outside.Main Purpose of the job:To be a helping hand for their unique and specific support needs, creating child-specific, play-based learning opportunities, and giving them the necessary guidance and support to thrive. A special interest and passion in neurodiversity and being a secure, long-term source of support are of the utmost importance.The candidate will be trained by the NDC Facilitation Academy and thereafter receive personalised support from a registered counsellor for up to 4-6 weeks, working in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team based at the Neurodiversity Centre.Job Objectives:

  • Provide companionship and emotional support for the children at home.
  • Offer support and scaffolding to help regulate their emotions, reducing uncertainty and anxiety.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging weekly activities to encourage development through play.
  • Foster an understanding of their differences, sensory needs, and executive functioning, assisting with routines/structure.
  • Assist with executive functioning tasks for parents, such as organising the children's play area, rotating toys, and sorting books while they are at school.
  • Be flexible and available for occasional babysitting, including assisting with the bedtime/evening routines.
RequirementsGeneral Requirements:
  • A valid driver's license and reliable car- Essential.
  • Fluent in English - Essential.
Job-Related work experience:
  • Previous experience in a role supporting neurodivergent children - Essential.
  • Previous experience working with younger children under 5 years old - Essential.
Job-Related Knowledge:Familiarity and knowledge of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) - Essential.
  • Familiarity with low arousal, child-led, neuro-affirming approach - Essential.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of attentional difficulties and hyperactivity in young children - Essential.
Job-Related Skills:
  • Ability to minimise stress and anxiety by utilising a low arousal approach - Essential.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with children and parents - Essential.
  • Organisational skills, i.e., ability to implement structure, routine, time management imperative - Essential.
  • Social, play and life skills - Essential.
  • Relationship building skills - Essential.

Working Hours:
  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 14:00 - 17:00
  • Saturdays: 08:00 - 11:00
The family is flexible and open to discussing alternative days or times. Additional hours will be required for babysitting and during school holidays.Salary Range:xc2xb7 R5 800 - R8 500 per month (Negotiable, and depending on previous experience and qualifications)Ideal starting date:
