Our client is looking for a skilled Auto Electrician to join their TMM Fleet team in underground mining operations in the Northern Cape. The chosen candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical systems and components on mining equipment (Fermel, CAT, Sandvik, Epiroc, and Atlas Copco) machines, ensuring their safe and efficient operation in challenging underground environments.Position details:Type: PermanentKey Responsibilities:Electrical Maintenance and Repair:Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical systems on mining equipment (LHDs, Bolters, Scrapers, drill rigs, dump trucks), including lighting, starters, alternators, batteries, and wiring harnesses.Perform scheduled maintenance tasks such as battery checks, electrical system testing, and component replacements to prevent breakdowns.Troubleshooting and Diagnosis:Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify electrical faults and malfunctions.Analyze wiring diagrams and schematics to pinpoint issues and implement effective solutions.Safety and Compliance:Adhere to safety protocols and regulations pertinent to underground mining operations.Ensure all electrical work complies with industry standards and manufacturer specifications.Documentation and Reporting:Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance and repairs conducted.Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, actions taken, and parts utilized for each maintenance task.Team Collaboration:Coordinate with other maintenance staff, mechanics, and operators to schedule repairs and optimize equipment uptime.Provide technical guidance and training to less experienced team members as required.Location: Northern CapeJob Qualifications, Skills & Experience:Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualificationMinimum 10 years of proven experience as an Auto Electrician in underground mining.Red Seal Trade certification or relevant technical qualifications preferred.Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and wiring diagrams.Proficiency in utilizing diagnostic tools and equipment for diagnosing and repairing electrical issues.Familiarity with battery systems, lighting systems, and electrical controls commonly found in mining equipment.Knowledge of safety standards and regulations applicable to mining environments.Excellent problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team.Ability to work meticulously with a zero-tolerance approach towards errors.Capability to direct and supervise tasks effectively.Able to perform well under pressure and independently.Additional information:Valid EB / Code 8 Drivers LicenseComputer literacy MS Office SuiteBe prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, callouts, and work overtimeSuccessfully obtain a Medical Certificate of Fitness to work undergroundCompany Description:Our client is a prominent mining concern dedicated to maintaining high standards of operational excellence and safety within the mining industry.
