Job Description

Role Summary



To prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, provide excellent customer service, and maintain a clean and welcoming environment in the cafe or restaurant.

Position: Bartender/Barista
Location: Magna The One, 16 Dennesig Street, Stellenbosch
Employment Start Date: Immediately
Working Hours: 45 hours per week (Specified by the shift roster)
Days Off: Two days per week

Key Responsibilities


Beverage Preparation

Prepare and serve a range of coffee and tea beverages, including espresso-based drinks, as per customer requests and established recipes. Ensure consistency in the taste, presentation, and quality of beverages. Keep up-to-date with the latest trends in coffee and tea preparation and introduce new beverages as approved by management.
Customer Service

Greet customers warmly and assist them in selecting beverages or snacks. Take customer orders accurately and handle any special requests or modifications. Provide prompt and friendly service, ensuring a positive customer experience.
Equipment Maintenance

Operate and maintain coffee machines, grinders, and other beverage equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition. Report any equipment issues to the Bar Manager or maintenance team promptly. Follow proper procedures for cleaning and maintaining all equipment used in the beverage preparation process.
Inventory and Stock Management

Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, tea leaves, milk, syrups, and other supplies, informing the Bar Manager of any shortages. Counting stock in the absence of a stock controller. Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper stock rotation to maintain freshness. Minimise waste by adhering to portion control guidelines and proper storage practices.
Hygiene and Cleanliness

Maintain a clean and organised work area, including counters, machines, and utensils. Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation standards. Perform regular cleaning tasks as assigned, including cleaning tables, floors, and restrooms in the restaurant or service area.
Team Collaboration

Work closely with other baristas and cafe staff to ensure smooth service and efficient operations. Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding any issues or concerns. Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on improving service and operations.
Upselling and Promotions

Promote special offers, new beverages, or seasonal menu items to customers. Upsell additional items such as pastries, snacks, or merchandise to enhance the customer's experience. Provide information on loyalty programs or promotions to encourage repeat business.

Required Skills and Qualifications



Previous experience as a barista is required. Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and equipment operation. Strong customer service and communication skills, providing a cheerful experience for customers. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and quality. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Pay: R7500,00 per month
