Role Purpose:
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of the company data presentation systems and processes. Play a critical role in data to provide valuable insights and recommendations to support decision-making across various departments. Responsible for testing data presentation systems to identify and rectify any errors or inconsistencies in design, ensuring seamless functionality and user experience. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology, Finance, Statistics or a related field.
• Relevant certifications in Business Intelligence (BI) tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau) or Data Warehousing (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle).
• Knowledge of the South African financial regulatory environment is a plus, with an understanding of compliance requirements and their implications for financial reporting and data management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Date Analysis and Reporting:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance BI reports and dashboards using tools such as Microsoft Power BI and SSRS to provide clear and actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of investment products, portfolio performance, and financial instruments, ensuring data accuracy and relevance for decision-making.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand reporting needs and deliver tailored solutions that support strategic objectives.
• Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform strategic decision-making.

Database Management & Optimization:

• Design, implement, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing from large datasets.
• Manage and maintain data warehousing solutions, including ETL processes, to ensure seamless data integration across multiple systems and platforms.
• Regularly monitor and optimize database performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing best practices to enhance data processing efficiency.
• Develop and maintain data models, dashboards, and reports to visualize key performance metrics.
• Conduct thorough testing of data systems applications to ensure accuracy, integrity, and functionality.
• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and scripts to validate data quality, system performance, and user experience.

Business Intelligence Development:

• Lead the development of custom BI solutions, including data models, visualizations, and dashboards that align with business goals and KPIs.
• Drive innovation by leveraging advanced analytics techniques such as predictive modeling and trend analysis to anticipate business needs and inform strategic planning.
• Ensure the quality and consistency of data across all BI tools and reporting platforms, implementing rigorous data validation and testing procedures.

Project Management & Collaboration:

• Manage multiple BI projects simultaneously, from requirements gathering through to implementation, ensuring that all deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, finance, and compliance, to align BI initiatives with organizational goals and ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
• Provide training and support to end-users, ensuring they are equipped to utilize BI tools effectively and maximize the value of data-driven insights.
• Document and communicate findings, issues, and recommendations to stakeholders and team members.

Regulatory Compliance & Data Governance:

• Ensure that all BI and reporting activities comply with South African financial regulations and internal policies, maintaining a strong focus on data security and confidentiality.
• Implement and enforce data governance standards, including data quality, metadata management, and access control, to maintain the integrity and reliability of the data environment.
• Stay informed of regulatory changes and emerging trends in financial reporting, advising the business on potential impacts and necessary adjustments.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

• Continuously evaluate and improve BI processes, identifying opportunities for automation, scalability, and efficiency gains.
• Keep up to date with the latest developments in BI tools, technologies, and industry best practices, and apply this knowledge to enhance the organizations BI capabilities.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team, encouraging the exploration of new approaches and technologies to stay ahead of the curve in data analytics.

Competencies:

• Proficient in BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft SSRS, with experience in designing, developing, and maintaining dashboards and reports that drive business decisions.
• Strong SQL skills, including experience in developing complex queries, stored procedures, and optimizing performance in SQL Server. Ability to work with large datasets and perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) operations.
• Experience with ETL processes and data warehousing concepts, including data integration, migration, and synchronization using tools like SSIS, Informatica, or Talend.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python for advanced data manipulation and analysis, including experience with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib.
• Knowledge of data modeling, data visualization, and dashboard creation to support strategic decision-making, including the use of advanced analytics and predictive modeling techniques.
• Understanding of best practices in data governance and data quality management, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data across systems.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
