Job Description
Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 / NTC3, with relevant technical experience and ability with tools and mechanical workings, if not trade tested
- Strong experience in the operations of Boilers : General operations, Technical experience, Maintenance, Regulations
- Experience in timber Kiln Drying would be advantageous: Kiln drying operations, Schedules, Quality Control
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a boiler operations environment
- Medically fit with sober habits
- Proficient in MS Office skills in Excel & MS Outlook
- Code EB license with own transport
- Willing to work irregular hours and perform standby duties
- Willing to work overtime, incl weekends
- Must be able to communicate in English (speak, read & write), Xhosa will be an added advantage
- Running the daily activities of the Boiler & Kiln operations at both sites, including technical & maintenance oversight
- Ensure compliance of all plant, machinery and auxiliary equipment to relevant statutory health, safety and environmental legislation and regulations, as well as company policies & procedures
- Control of spare part inventories, and critical spares
- Monitor and control costs
- Manage training and development of departmental employees
- Ensuring and improving the performance, productivity & efficiency
- Managing all staff in accordance with labour laws and company policies
- Ensuring a high-level housekeeping standard in the department
