Job Description

My client in the Southern Suburbs is seeking a Bookkeeper to join their successful business.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
• Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions
• Process inter-company invoices
• Reconcile bank statements and ensure the accuracy of financial data
• Reconcile inter-company loans
• Prepare sales invoices and quotes
• Send out customer statements monthly and follow up on payments where necessary
• Prepare payments for authorisation via online banking
• Prepare and submit monthly financial reports to the directors
• Prepare and submit VAT (VAT201) and Employees Tax (EMP201 & EMP501) returns timeously to SARS
• Assist in the reparation of budgets and financial forecasts
• Handle payroll processing and ensure timely and accurate payment to employees
• Timely submission of returns to the Department of Labour and or COIDA
• Monitor and manage petty cash transactions
• Work closely with other departments to gather financial information and provide support as needed
• Implement systems and procedur

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is a plus.
• Bookkeeping diploma from a recognised institution
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or a similar role
• Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Proficiency in Xero and Dext
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Basic knowledge of South African tax laws and regulations (not essential for the role)
• Relevant qualification in Accounting or Finance
• Familiarity with signage manufacturing and marketing is a plus
