A JSE listed company that leads the private sector in the fields of education and resourcing is seeking the professional experience of an Accountant. The Accountant will be responsible for providing efficient and effective accounting services and cost control.As an Accountant, you will be responsible for the following:
Financial Planning, Forecasting, and Budgeting:

  • Collaborate with Management to develop detailed budgets for each account, informed by historical data analysis.
  • Support Managers throughout the budgeting process.
  • Monitor performance and communicate with Management, providing insights and guidance.
  • Conduct thorough variance analyses and advise Manager accordingly.
  • Perform trend analysis, proactively highlighting areas of concern on a monthly basis.
  • Coordinate with Group Shared Services (GSS) on revenue collection, outstanding payments, and fixed assets.
Financial/Management Accounting:
  • Reconcile billing and payments received on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Verify and reconcile inter-company loans.
  • Offer financial guidance to the Management team.
  • Prepare complex GL reconciliations as required by the business.
  • Review all reconciliations prepared by JBA or FA.
  • Address queries and collaborate with GSS to resolve them.
Financial/Management Reporting:
  • Analyze the financial performance.
  • Aggregate and analyze financial performance data.
  • Generate accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts on a weekly basis and share with FM.
  • Compile monthly management accounts within specified deadlines.
  • Produce monthly MANCO reports meeting specified deadlines.
Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to company financial policies and procedures.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary information and support.
  • Address audit queries and escalate issues as needed.
  • Take corrective action to address audit findings and mitigate risks.
  • Provide training on financial policies and procedures to staff.
  • Review and sign off on monthly audit files and ensure timely processing of month/year-end journals.
  • Approve expenditures in accordance with the authorization matrix.
  • Ensure timely submission of statutory returns.
  • Identify and report instances of non-compliance across the Company.
Staff Management:
  • Manage workflow on a day-to-day basis to meet deadlines.
  • Identify critical skills essential for sustainable service delivery.
  • Ensure staff receive adequate training and development opportunities.
Qualifications:
Completed Finance qualification.Skills:
3 - 5 years experience in a similar role
