Job Description

The SA Steelworks Services department requires a committed, hardworking and motivated Burner to join their team. The successful applicant will be responsible for cutting a variety of ferrous and non- ferrous material using a cutting torch.

The Burner's primary purpose is to provide support within the Production division as dictated by operational requirements in the form of cutting a variety of steel products using a cutting torch. The following tasks will include, but are not limited to:




Cut variety of steel for re-melting purposes Maintenance and checking of cutting tools Ensuring that equipment is in good, safe and working order Follow correct procedure before cutting hazardous material identified Maintain safe working procedures at all times. Abide by the regulations as set out in the O.H.S.A. and company policies.

Qualifying Attributes/ Requirements:

2-3 years Relevant experience as a burner is advantageous. Excellent knowledge of Ferrous and non- ferrous metals Good knowledge of which applicable cutting safety procedure and safety equipment to be used Must be able to work alone and in a team Must be willing and eager to learn Must be honest & reliable Hard-working and self-motivated individual Willing to work over-time when required Basic knowledge of Health and Safety rules
