The industry organization, Fresh Produce Exporters Forum, runs a number of initiatives to bring about transformation in the fresh fruit export industry. The FPEF Graduate Placement Program places high caliber graduates in junior commercial, logistics and technical (post-harvest quality management) roles at various South African fruit export companies for one year, potentially leading to long term career opportunities. The aim of this programme is to integrate a growing group of talented black individuals into the commercial and operational heart of the industry.This is your opportunity to enter the dynamic, fast-growing, and competitive world of post-harvest fruit handling, international fruit trade and marketing.A dynamic company in the blueberry export industry and Fresh Produce Exporters Forum (FPEF) member, based in the Western Cape, is offering an opportunity for a driven, educated person to give them exposure as a Business Analyst Intern in the agricultural sector.Purpose of the role
The Business Analyst Intern ("BAI") will learn skills relating to analysing, designing, implementing and supporting system-based solutions, ensuring informational accuracy, integrity and timely delivery of high-quality data. The BAI, under the leadership of Senior Business Analysts will document processes, identify efficiencies and implement improvements.Duties:Reporting Applications

  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data to improve reporting processes.
  • Needs Assessment: Balance user needs with company requirements, considering resources and costs.
  • Customer Understanding: Understand customer and industry needs to keep the company competitive.
  • Efficiency: Automate reports to reduce manual tasks and costs.
  • Testing & Implementation: Coordinate testing and implementation of new reports.
  • Training: Train users on new reports and enhancements.
Operational Applications (BEX, Bespoke Export Fruit System)
  • Technical Support: Assist in writing specifications and testing new developments.
  • Training: Train users on new BEX developments.
Desktop Applications (Office 365)
  • Efficiency Improvement: Explore and implement desktop tools to improve efficiency.
  • Support: Provide software support to minimize IT costs.
System Support
  • Season Setups: Coordinate annual data setups.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure data integrity and inform stakeholders of issues.
  • Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with business rules and policies.
  • User Support: Provide daily support to users.
Stakeholder Management
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to various audiences.
  • Relationship Building: Develop strong relationships with service providers and stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Coordinate project schedules and ensure timely development.
  • Budget Tracking: Track development costs and ensure alignment with budget and priorities.
Intern requirements:
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree
  • Fruit Industry experience across multiple departments/fields (systems, finance, logistics/operations, costing, sales) - desirable
  • Systems and/or Business Intelligence Analyst experience - desirable
  • Driver's license and own transport
  • Technical Writing/Design
  • Relational Database and SQL Language
  • Power BI, Power Pivot, M, T-SQL,PL SQL, DAX - desirable
  • Azure data factory - desirable
  • Data Warehouse / Solution Design - desirable
  • Budgeting; Budget vs Actual Tracking - desirable
  • Project Management & Stakeholder Management -desirable
  • Problem-solving and Process Mapping
