Job Description


Position: SQL / BI Report Analyst / Report DeveloperLocation: Brackenfell (position is based onsite and is not hybrid)Salary: Market related.Own transport is a must.Summary:This role is a mix of technical skills (SQL, report generation, and data manipulation) and industry-specific knowledge (debt collection/legal). The candidate will primarily be responsible for creating and managing SQL-based reports, maintaining data accuracy, and ensuring that reporting is aligned with business goals, while also potentially taking on some team management and operational oversight tasks.Key Responsibilities: * SQL Server Management:

  • The candidate must have strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012, including:
  • Writing ad-hoc SQL queries to extract or analyze data.
  • Understanding and working with stored procedures, functions, views, and tables.
  • Using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) for database management and development.
Report Development and Management:
  • The candidate should have a solid understanding of Microsoft Reporting Services (SSRS):
  • Maintaining and updating existing reports.
  • Modifying or enhancing existing reports as needed.
  • Creating new reports from scratch based on business needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is critical, particularly for report development:
  • Advanced Excel functions, such as pivots, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, COUNTIF, and conditional logic (e.g., IF statements).
  • Ability to run SQL queries within Excel using its Query Manager for advanced data manipulation.
Document and Reporting Management:
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, especially for:
  • Using mail merge for document generation and publishing reports.
  • Formatting and managing merge fields for creating professional documents.
Industry-Specific Knowledge:
  • Experience in a Debt Collection or Legal Environment (2-3 years), which is crucial for understanding financial processes and legal terminology.
  • Exposure to systems such as Excalibur Collection Systems, Intecon ALLPS, Capitec CORS, and others (desirable but not mandatory).
Team Management (Optional):
  • Experience managing a small team and handling relationships with service providers (this is an advantageous skill).
General Skills:
  • A strong ability to learn systems and processes quickly.
  • Result-driven approach to problem-solving and meeting goals.
  • Self-sufficient and capable of working independently, though also able to collaborate in a team setting.
  • Having a driver's license and a vehicle is a requirement for the role.
Required Experience and Skills:
  • Microsoft SQL Server: Deep knowledge in managing databases, creating queries, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Microsoft Reporting Services (SSRS): Creating, modifying, and maintaining business reports.
  • Microsoft Excel: Advanced knowledge for building reports and analyzing data.
  • Microsoft Word: Document publication and report formatting.
  • Debt Collection/Legal Environment: Understanding financial ledgers, accounting, and how collections or legal processes work.
  • Team Leadership (Advantageous): Managing a team or service providers.
Additional Requirements:
  • Matric certificate as a minimum educational qualification.
  • Strong understanding of financial ledgers and accounting principles essential.
  • Work ethic: Independent, self-starter who can function with minimal supervision but also be a part of a collaborative team.
