Job Summary Role Overview:

Reporting into the Data Solutions team, The Business Analyst is responsible for bridging the gap between the Development team and Operational Teams. Working with Operational Teams, the BA will map existing operational processes, understand the requirements of the processes and identify inefficiencies.

The Development Team will look to the BA to document current and future state processes, collaborate with the Data Solutions team to define innovative solutions, create comprehensive test plans, lead Operational teams through testing programmes, and diligently track and report progress against plans. This role demands robust analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication capabilities, self-driven initiative, and the ability to work seamlessly within a team or independently. Effective communication across multiple Operational teams and organisational levels is imperative.

This role requires the ability to work independently, as the serviced team is based in Johannesburg, with one staff member in Mauritius to manage. The successful candidate will demonstrate self-reliance and effective remote collaboration.

Skills and experience required:

  • Minimum of 3 years Business Analyst experience within the Financial Services industry
  • Minimum of 5 years Financial Services industry experience
  • Working understanding of Investment Administration
  • Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
  • Data and process visualization: The ability to create and interpret visual representations of data and processes to provide insights to stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of Finance and Accounting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong data and process analytical skills which include logical and critical thinking.
  • Working knowledge of Jira/Confluence and Lucid Charts. (Advantageous)
  • Familiarity with various technologies, including databases, programming languages, and data analysis tools (SQL and Alteryx). (Advantageous)

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless integration of data solutions.
  • Process Mapping and Requirements Gathering: Document and understand current state business processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency and automation.
  • Process Analysis: Analyse existing business processes, identify inefficiencies, and collaborate with the Development Team to define streamlined solutions.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain process flows, requirements specifications, future state end-user guides, and efficiency metrics.
  • Feasibility Studies: Conduct assessments to verify the viability of proposed solutions, considering cost, time, and resource requirements for both Development and Operational Teams.
  • Data Analysis: Analyse complex data sets, identify patterns, and provide insights to stakeholders.
  • Facilitating Communication: Play a critical role in facilitating communication between all stakeholders, including developers and Operational Teams of varying seniority levels.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage stakeholders' expectations throughout the process improvement cycle.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Oversee testing and quality assurance activities, ensuring developed solutions meet business requirements and are defect-free.
  • Project Management: Contribute to Project Management activities, maintaining project plans, resource mapping, issue escalation, and managing stakeholders to meet project deadlines.
