Job TitleBusiness Consultant (Fuel Industry)LocationNorthern CapeJob purposeThis role is the custodian of the retail service stations with the purpose of building and maintaining strong customer relationships that facilitate a high-performance sale driven environment. Acts as an interface between the retailers and the company and seeks out opportunities to grow and develop the brand in the area. Overseeing the success of critical initiatives and business disciplines that drive, including being accountable to achieve and exceed the sales volume targets and liaising with a broad range of internal and external.Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Standards
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to create business plans that identify needs, goals, and opportunities to achieve Business Plan success.
  • Develop and implement strategies for improving key metrics and business operations
  • Develop operational plans for achieving desired business outcomes and results
  • Provide ongoing consulting to retailers and their employees to ensure success in their business areas.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with clients and other business partners.
  • Client Management
  • Ensure business plan KPIs are met and brand standard, image stewardship and customer first are maintained for retailers within the designated territory
  • Plans and executes monthly call cycle and shares monthly in advance
  • Overseeing Retailers compliance with brand standards, Safety regulations
  • Ensures that the Retailers are aligned with all required processes as well as government regulations such as HES, licensing and local ordinances.
  • Conducts business advising site visits and calls to review, measure, report and assist Retailers towards achieving agreed Business Plan targets
  • Monitors monthly performance and agreed action plans to ensure targets are achieved
  • Ensures consistent and disciplined execution of processes/procedures/programs and systems
  • Oversight of Retailers maintenance, including facilities and dispensing equipment
  • Monitors and regularly conducts field visits and research to establish competitor activity in the Group area
  • Competitor Reporting and Analysis
  • Understanding our competitors in the market, to ensure we remain relevant and ahead of the game.
  • Devises and develops site and area specific strategies to counter any aggressive competitor activity.
  • Gathers information and supporting documentation to assist with the reporting.
  • Report monthly to the GM on competitive activities in the network
  • Foreign Fuel
  • Daily/Weekly/Monthly oversight of Fueled/WSM/Meter readings and ensure visible and quick response to instances of Foreign Fuel
  • Escalation process with repeat offenders till Legal
  • Promotions, CSI and Advertising
  • In conjunction with the retailers compiles an annual and monthly Promotions plan
  • Ensures compliance to the plan
  • Assists and supports any activations and promotional activities for the area
  • Energy Compliance
  • In line with the Monthly Disciplined call agenda, executes all inspections, checks and audits as required by Employer and the General Manager (includes)
  • WSM Reports, BM HES reports, Site Image, Uniform reports
  • Ensures all inspections, audits and checks are done with integrity and all gaps are reported in writing (and accompanied with photographs where applicable)
  • Preparing by-weekly operational reports for presentation to the GM
  • Responsible for safeguarding reputation, image and credibility of the Company and the group
  • Share necessary information with the management team and Retailers to ensure business strategies are achieved
  • Tenure Information Management.
  • Custodian of the Tenure list
  • Identify and highlight any tenure issues requiring resolution
  • Stakeholder Relations
  • Manage and maintain relations with retailers and franchises in the network, along with the BCs
  • Develop and grow relationships with the retailers and franchisees in the Group
  • Establish customer satisfaction in respect of service standards, customer care and customer responsiveness.
  • Manage and cultivate existing relationships and expand recurring revenue streams.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and service providers to drive the values of the business
  • Administration and Support
  • Ensures all meetings, dealings and pertinent engagements with customers are documented via email and saved on the Master file records electronically
  • Compiles and updates files for each service station, including for areas housed on the same property
  • Ensures impeccable filing and record keeping
  • Shares all necessary letters and correspondence with all applicable colleagues and GM
Requirements
  • 3 to 5 years previous experience in a similar role or within a fuel service station environment.
  • Must reside or relocate to the Northern Cape
  • Must be able to travel to the Northern Cape on a regular basis
  • Strong retail fuel industry experience (Non-negotiable).
  • Strong communication skills and able to build rapport with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Well articulate, a good listener and a strong communicator.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to think and act strategically in the best interests of the company.
  • Well-presented
  • Able to work independently and self-disciplined, as the role is often done remotely or whilst travelling.
  • Proficient in English and Afrikaans
