Career Opportunity

The Hospitality and Leisure division, within Segment Solutions, has a position available for a Business Development Manager (JG8). The position will be based in Cape Town , Western Cape .



This is a specialist position, primarily responsible for the growth, implementation, and support of the Santam Hospitality operating model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for business development and support functions.
  • Formulate clear strategic objectives and a business plan for each region.
  • Work closely with the regions to develop sales and retention strategies within the segment.
  • Actively manage key broker relationships focusing on growing and developing existing clients together with generating new business.
  • Unlock opportunities for new broker relationships and partnerships.
  • Influence overall profitability of client area by assisting regions to meet their targets.
  • Facilitate technical marketing: Townhall sessions, Thought intelligence webinars.
  • Growth with targeted approach: identify pipeline per region on previous unsuccessful quotes and cancellation. Identify mega clients.
  • Continue to position Santam Hospitality as market leader and insurer of choice.
  • Formulate maintenance (retention) strategy for current profitable segments and commodities.
  • Engage in cross-selling initiatives promoting the total Segment Solutions offering to current and potential clients.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Matric /Grade 12
  • Short-term Insurance related qualification or related experience
  • Extensive Commercial Lines experience
  • Business Development experience (advantageous)
  • RE5 Certificate
  • FAIS compliant (120 credits on NQF level 4)
  • Minimum 3 years' middle management experience in the short-term insurance environment
