This role involves frequent interaction with our supply base, including farmers, pack houses, and packaging suppliers, as well as strategic negotiation and seasonal contracting. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to meeting our growing demands.Key Responsibilities:xc2xb7 Network Management: Maintain and expand our supply network for fruit and packaging materials to meet yearly production requirements.xc2xb7 Coordination: Communicate daily with production, logistics, quality, and planning teams to ensure timely supply of raw materials.xc2xb7 Budgeting: Develop yearly and monthly purchase budgets aligned with demand and fruit seasons.xc2xb7 Market Analysis: Assess local market conditions, identify new supply opportunities, and share market insights with the sales team.xc2xb7 Relationship Building: Build and sustain strong relationships with farmers and packers through regular visits across South Africa.xc2xb7 Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with quality standards and pesticide residue regulations.xc2xb7 System Management: Oversee purchase prices, orders, and contracts within the ERP system, and generate monthly reports on stock levels, order status, and pricing.xc2xb7 Negotiation: Negotiate purchase prices based on global market information and internal cost considerations.xc2xb7 Reputation Management: Enhance presence and reputation within the farming community and various fruit associations in South Africa.Sustainability: Contribute to improving the sustainability profile of our supply chain.Requirements:xc2xb7 Experience: Minimum of 4 years in fruit or vegetable buying, preferably in an industrial environment.xc2xb7 Education: Degree in Agriculture or a B-com degree with an agricultural background.xc2xb7 Travel: Willingness to travel locally, including overnight stays.xc2xb7 ERP Systems: Experience with ERP systems such as Sage, SAP, or Pastel Evolution.xc2xb7 Transportation: Must have a personal car.xc2xb7 Languages: Fluent in English; proficiency in Afrikaans and other languages is advantageous.
