**Retail Buyers**
Our client, a leading retailer in Centurion, is looking for a skilled Buyer to manage and source a diverse range of products, including DIY tools, toys, and gifting items.
This role is crucial in building strong supplier relationships, negotiating competitive pricing, and ensuring the right products are always available to meet customer demand.
Collaborating closely with the Franchise Owner, Visual Merchandiser, Marketing, and Store Managers, the ideal candidate will have a keen eye for market trends and a strategic mindset

  • A degree in business, supply chain management, retail management, or a related field is non-negotiable.
  • 3-5 years of experience in procurement or buying, preferably within a retail environment related to Stationery, Arts, and/or Crafts.
  • Vendor negotiation experience and a track record of successful supplier management.
  • Experience in managing procurement for seasonal or promotional products in a retail environment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with procurement software and inventory management systems is highly beneficial.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data, analyse purchasing trends, and adjust procurement strategies based on market demands and inventory performance.
  • Supplier relationship management with proven experience in managing supplier relationships, ensuring reliable product delivery, and resolving any supply chain issues efficiently.
  • Tech-savvy with experience in procurement software, retail management systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other data analysis tools to manage orders, track inventory, and forecast product demand.
Personality Traits:
  • Strong ability to negotiate with suppliers and vendors, ensuring cost-effective purchasing agreements, favourable payment terms, and timely delivery.
  • Organisational skills with excellent time management, the ability to prioritise, and the capability to manage multiple product categories and purchasing schedules simultaneously.
  • Creative passion for Arts and Crafts.
  • Communication skills with strong ability to collaborate with vendors, internal teams, and store management to ensure all parties are aligned with procurement goals and timelines.
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Research and source products for stationery, arts, crafts, toys, and gifting to ensure a diverse and innovative product range.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, reliable deliveries, and healthy partnerships.
  • Place purchase orders based on sales trends, inventory levels, and seasonal requirements while ensuring timely stock availability.
  • Stay updated on market trends and customer preferences to introduce new products that drive sales.
  • Monitor stock performance to avoid overstocking or shortages and ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies that maintain competitiveness and profitability.
  • Plan procurement for seasonal events and promotions to ensure timely availability of relevant products.
  • Ensure all sourced products meet quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Create purchasing forecasts aligned with financial goals and sales trends.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and address any challenges to improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align procurement with marketing strategies and sales campaigns.
