Job Description

General Manager.
A luxury lodge & hotel group requires an experienced General Manager with at least 5 years’ experience managing a
hotel of a similar medium size. 4* Hotel Lowveld Mpumalanga. 34 rooms with 40 to be built.
- Responsible and accountable for complete Guest satisfaction of all guests visiting the Hotel
- Responsible and accountable for operational quality and standards of all operational departments of the Hotel
- Oversee the operations functions of the hotel
- Implement policies and procedures, as agreed with the Operations Manager
- Ensure full compliance to hotel operating controls, SOP’s, policies, procedures, and service standards
- Lead all key property issues including capital projects, customer service and refurbishment
- Hold all daily briefings and monthly staff meetings
- Handling complaints, and oversee the service recovery procedures
- Involved with finance team in compiling Operating Budget,
Marketing & Sales Plan and Capital Budget
- Manage on-going profitability of the hotel, ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and exceeded
- Deliver hotel budget goals and set other short- and long-term strategic goals for the property
- To achieve optimum financial results and improve on set budget
- Developing service improvement actions, carry out costs savings
- Strong understanding of P&L statements and the ability to react with impactful strategies
- Closely monitor the hotels business reports on a daily basis and take decisions accordingly
- Ensure that monthly financial outlooks for Rooms, Food & Beverage, Admin & General, are on target and accurate.
- Maximizing room yield through innovative sales practices and yield management
- Prepare monthly financial reporting for the owners and stake holders
- Assisting in the procurement of operating supplies and equipment, and contracting with third-party vendors for essential equipment
and services
REQUIREMENTS
- Act as a decision maker in hiring of key staff together with senior management
- Achieve good communication and to interpret and enforce agreed management decisions, policies and attitudes to achieve objectives
- Instill a culture of learning and assist in creating a company for staff and customers.
- Coordination with HOD's for the execution of all activities and functions
- Overseeing and managing all departments and working closely with department heads on a daily basis
- Corporate client handling and take part in new client acquisition along with the sales team whenever required
- Responsible for statutory compliances, Occupational Health & Safety, fire regulations and other legal requirements
- Chairman and facilitator of EE actions
- Well-rounded knowledge of Industrial relations in order to chair and initiate hearings
- Planning and overseeing of preventative maintenance
- Prior experience in similar HOTEL MANAGEMENT position
- Matric
- Good command of the English language
- Proven skills & track record in Front of House or F&B management, or both
- Well-spoken and presentable
- Be guest-centric ensuring great experiences
- Innovative and creative - To drive hospitality at the hotel to new levels
- Must be experienced in managing, training, cost control and have strong administrative skills
- Relationship building, with staff, guests, the community, the industry (agents and other properties)
- Strong leader who has been in charge of employees before
- Formal hospitality degree/diploma preferable
- Lateral thinking ability

- Good interpersonal skills and communication with staff and guests

- Plan and manage hotel operations effectively
- Drive the broader goals of the group as required by Head Office
- Knowledge of Hotel PMS, POS & Stock Systems required: Apex or Nebula would be beneficial
- Able to handle pressure & difficult situations if required
- Able to multi task & deliver as required in accordance with company standards
- Adherence to all company practices
- Leading, training and motivating the team
- Drive the hotel’s quality plan and implement all required standards
Salary  R 35 000 negotiable
