Category Manager: Stationery

Job Description


The Category Manager will be responsible for managing the school stationery category. This would include sales growth, sales management, budgeting, and stock management.Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing departmental income and expenses, defining roles, and providing staff training and development.
  • Handling stock management, planning, and ordering, along with forecasting.
  • Ensuring effective communication with internal teams (e.g., distribution centers, retail stores, and finance) and maintaining relationships with schools and other stakeholders.
  • Price and margin management, school supply agreements, and organizing BTS events.
  • Analyzing market trends, developing sales strategies, and achieving regional sales targets.
  • Managing call centers, customer care, and a large sales portfolio.
  • Utilizing sales reporting tools, monitoring sales by product, and maintaining supplier relationships.
The role requires a Matric qualification, a Degree/Diploma in Business, Sales, or Marketing, and at least 10 years of experience in a management position in a similar environment. Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills are essential, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office, the ability to manage high-pressure deadlines, and a track record of achieving targets. The role demands an assertive, energetic, and creative individual with a passion for sales and business development.This role will be based in Germiston with occasional travel required.
