Job Description
Duties:
- Food preparation and cooking of a wide variety of menu items
- Provide a safe working environment
- Maintain high standard of hygiene and cleanliness of the kitchen
- Maintain company SOPs and standards
- Estimate food requirements, and review inventory to assure adequate supplies are available in the storeroom
- Report to the Chef on duty what needs to be ordered
- Coordinate food quality and service activities, to have meals prepared on schedule and to the highest standard
- Participate in the cleaning of the kitchen
- Package and freeze samples of all food to comply with health regulations
- Maintain records of food prepared and served as well as ingredients used
- Assist in evaluating new recipes and products
- Train and instruct employees in cooking, food preparation and food handling techniques
- Supervises subordinate cooks
- Oversee and manage the kitchen in the absence of the Chef on duty
- Carry out any other tasks that are reasonably assigned to you
- To provide a safe working environment in the kitchen
- Grade 12
- Tertiary qualification or necessary experience to qualify
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work accurately and neatly
- Strong organizational skills
- Must be able to work without supervision
- Good presentation and a pleasant manner
