Closing Date: 02/07/2024Purpose of the job:Deliver an effective analytical chemistry service to production sites and support intrinsic teams with research projects, new product development and problem-solving as needed.Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute GC-MS and LC-MS/MS analysis to support intrinsic team projects.
  • Participate in problem-solving to provide analytical support related to product or production complaints, as required.
  • Prepare Laboratory Test Reports where needed.
  • Operate and maintain equipment to prevent deterioration, maintain lifespan to ensure that accurate results are obtained.
  • Do routine preventative maintenance on all equipment used.
  • Verify that small laboratory equipment (e.g. analytical balances and Pipettes) has a valid calibration/maintenance certificate to ensure traceability of results.
  • Investigate equipment downtime by conducting first line troubleshooting.
  • Develop and validate new analytical methods to ensure the methods are fit for purpose.
  • Control of laboratory's inventory (chemicals and consumables) based on consumption ensuring an uninterrupted laboratory service is provided.
  • Adhere to all laboratory requirements in line with the Laboratory Quality Management System.
  • Compile laboratory documentation and records in line with the Laboratory Quality Management System to ensure the information is easily retrievable.
Education:
  • M.Sc. (Analytical Chemistry) or equivalent
or
  • B.S. (Hons) with 10+ years' experience in a GC-MS and/or LC-MS/MS laboratory
A PhD (Analytical Chemistry) will be an advantage.Experience:
  • Experience with GC-MS and/or LC-MS/MS analysis.
  • Experience with maintenance of GC-MS
  • Experience with different sample preparation techniques.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 and/or ISO 17025 environment.
  • Knowledge of sample collection procedures and techniques.
  • Experience in beverage analysis will be an advantage.
