KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS, DELIVERABLES & MEASURES:

  • Establishment Inspections and Dispute Resolution:
  • Deliverables:
  • Approve and prioritize inspection plans.
  • Allocate and monitor Agents for site inspections.
  • Conduct escalated inspections and resolve disputes.
  • Measures:
  • Number and outcome of inspections.
  • Effective dispute resolutions.
  • Compliance order issuance and dispute referrals.
  • Complaint Investigations with Customer Centricity:
  • Deliverables:
  • Delegate and oversee jurisdiction investigations.
  • Ensure customer-centric approach in all activities.
  • Respond to and investigate complaints.
  • Measures:
  • Accurate complaints register.
  • Timely investigations and positive feedback.
  • Administration:
  • Deliverables:
  • Maintain documentation and oversee establishment registrations.
  • Ensure timely delivery of arbitration awards and follow-up on complaints.
  • Participate in industry notification projects and monitor compliance.
  • Measures:
  • Complete and accurate files.
  • Timely compliance orders and arbitration awards.
  • Legislative compliance.
  • Staff Supervision:
  • Deliverables:
  • Participate in interviews and handle disciplinary matters.
  • Lead performance meetings and provide mentorship.
  • Monitor performance and vehicle usage.
  • Measures:
  • Approved leave forms.
  • Motivated and performing team.
  • Ad Hoc Functions:
  • Deliverables:
  • Perform tasks within incumbents ability as assigned.
  • Measures:
  • Report on specific tasks.
KEY STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Internal: General Secretary, Compliance Enforcement and Dispute Resolution Executive Manager, Funds Administrator, Dispute Resolutions Officer, Agents.
  • External: Employers, Employees, Employer Organisations, Trade Unions.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum: National Diploma in Labour Law, Proficient in Microsoft Office (Advanced Level).
  • Preferred: Tertiary Qualification (LLB or B-Com Law), Certificate in Labour Dispute Resolution Practice.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum: 5 years as an Agent in investigations and inspections, Supervisory experience, Trade union engagement, Conflict resolution.
  • Preferred: 8 years relevant experience, Representing bargaining council, Training Agents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & BEHAVIOURS:
  • Knowledge: Collective Bargaining, Labfurniour Law (Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act), MS Office proficiency.
  • Skills: Communication, Interpersonal, Teamwork, Problem-solving, Planning, Time management, Reporting.
  • Behaviours: Assertiveness, Judgement, Attention to detail, Accuracy, Deadline-driven.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • 60% Office-based
  • Required to visit establishments for inspections and investigations.
