Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to re-imagine mining to improve people's lives"", delivering the metals and minerals that make modern life possible."PurposeEnsure compliance, plan and oversee electrical maintenance, develop maintenance programs, manage relationships, improve systems, maintain electrical records, handle emergency response, and source equipment.Your duties will include:

  • Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments, and close-out of Safety Actions.
  • Act as a thought leader, technical expert and first point of reference for leading electrical installation and maintenance practices.
  • Oversee planning and allocation of task activities within the Maintenance area to achieve forecasted business results (including health, safety, environment, and community impacts of work).
  • Plan and execute the business electrical strategy for monthly shutdowns.
  • Assist in developing standards, procedures, and processes in relevant functional or process areas.
  • Assist in the development of annual electrical budgets and business plans.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the electrical maintenance team.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems, to deliver all Maintenance operations performance and KPI targets.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimise downtime.
  • Plan and coordinate electrical projects, including installation and upgrades of equipment.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure the integration of electrical systems with overall mine operations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Keep abreast of changes in regulations and update procedures accordingly.
  • Emergency Response:
  • Develop and implement emergency response procedures for electrical failures or incidents.
  • Coordinate with relevant teams to address and resolve electrical emergencies promptly.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to source electrical equipment and components.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Coordinate training and development opportunities for electrical personnel.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to ensure the team's skills are current.
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical systems, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Generate reports on equipment performance, downtime, and maintenance costs.
  • Instrumental in the development of continuous improvement projects and cost-reduction strategies
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in electrical systems and maintenance practices.
  • Implement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 Certificate/N3 Technical
  • NQF5: Advanced National Vocational Certificate 5
  • NQF5: NATED N4/N6 Certificate (Electrical Engineering)
  • Trade base Certificate as Electrician
  • SA Drivers Licence
Experience
Technical Knowledge
  • 5 Years' operational experience.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of relevant mining legislation and its application.
  • Proven track record in driving continuous improvement and best practices.
  • High level of analytical, problem solving and coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of operational processes within the scope of the role.
  • Relevant electrical drawing/design experience (mining industry preferred).
  • Documentation, sign-off and approval processes.
  • Risk management techniques and critical controls.
  • Safety, health, and environment, legislative, statutory, and regulatory.
